In our view, S/S 2003 was one of Miu Miu's most iconic collections for men, with its effortless combination of contemporary workwear, 1970s tailoring and high-contrast floral decorations. This jacket is one of our favourites in the archive - its precise silhouette and distinctive floral decoration bring about a sense of effortless elegance that is synonymous with the label. The design is based on mid-century raincoats, as suggested by its raglan shoulders, angled welt pockets and metal ventilation eyelets around the armholes. The proportions, however, have been abbreviated to form a cute little blouson.

The piece is crafted from a beautiful —and, in our opinion, rather iconic— cotton fabric in a micro-houndstooth weave (also referred to as puppytooth!). The material has some structure and is screenprinted with the season's signature hibiscus florals in matte white ink. Upon a closer inspection, we can see that the jacket is exceptionally well constructed, with wide flat fell seams and a beautifully finished interior. Indeed, the jacket looks just as good when worn reversed! Strongly recommended.
